I live in a 17th century half-timbered cottage. The infill panels are wattle and daub. It is very badly insulated, especially as the roof is now concrete/asbestos tile, rather than the oriiginal thatched roof. I am limited by what I can do to the building because of Listed Building regulations. I am spending a fortune on heating the place. Insulating old properties is a specialised subject – there can be a lot of problems with it. Inappropriate work can lead to dampness and structural decay. I would like to know what I can do to improve the efficiency of my property. I note that neither of the two speakers mentioned above have any building qualifications whatsoever.
