These energy companies offer 100% Green Electricity
Co-operative Energy is owned by it’s members. Co-operative Energy does not just only purchase renewable electricity, but also supports and promotes local schemes and co-operatives. An example of one of these inspiring initiatives is Energy Local which allows generation sites to provide its local neighbours with cheaper energy alternatives.
Bulb is a green gas and electricity supplier. Rated 9.3 on Trustpilot. It takes just 3 minutes to switch. Bulb supply all their members with 100% renewable electricity and 10% green gas. When you switch to Bulb, they make sure that for every unit of electricity you use, a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable source like Oak Grove Solar Farm in Monmouthshire. In addition, 10% of their gas comes from biomethane. That’s gas produced from organic matter like sewage and manure – which is then reinjected onto the grid (minus the smell).
Using any of these links will provide Climate Emergency UK with the funds necessary to organise the campaign to declare a ‘Climate Emergency’.
A friend suggested to me recently that getting my energy from a ‘green’ provider was worthless since all the electricity in the National Grid is ‘pooled’ and I will still be receiving 98% fossil fuel energy – similar story with gas. How do I answer this with facts and figures?
Alternative energy that benefits people, not corporations, is the key. Remind me again how the government was elected.
I am currently with Ecotricity as they are 100% renewable for gas and electricity. I was not sure if the cooperative energy is 100% renewable on gas?
Hi Cathy, Ecotricity say “The gas we supply now is 14% green”. Don’t think the Coop have any renewable gas.
